We heard a lot of good things about this kid out of Louisburg and were interested in seeing him lace them up against some of the best freshmen in the country at the SE All-Freshman Invitational. After starting out slow, Elijah heated up and showed signs of what all the hoopla is about. He is a scrappy, hard-nosed guard who loves to take it to the heart of the defense every chance he gets, and he’s strong enough to withstand the contact. What we saw was a kid who is good now but has the potential to be really good. With Elijah’s toughness and ability to get into the lane at will, if he continues to improve his jumpshot and his overall skillset, he could easily be one of the top guard prospects in the state. We do think, however, it would benefit him to be pushed by high quality competition on a consistent basis because that seems to bring out his best. Either way we will be keeping a very close eye on this young man.
