Jakai Newton was one of a few strong pieces in DCA’s backcourt during the NYBL Finals. This kid can be played on or off the ball while being equally effective at both guard spots. His handle allowed him to freeze defenders as he worked his way to the rim where he finished pretty well once in the paint. Jakai held down his defensive rotation responsibilities in the press and capitalized on bad passes made by the opposing team by converting layups and assists. This young man impressed our staff enough to earn an invitation to the Fresh Outta Middle School Invitational this October.
